“Tanahku Indonesia” represents the local earth-based materiality of architecture and interior design and its potential as an integral part of Indonesian creative economy. Materiality is a reflection of architecture and interior knowledge grounded on the deep understanding of the contexts where an architecture or interior design work emerges. The understanding of materiality is not limited to the physical presence of the materials in various forms and types,. It is closely connected to a range of technique and methods that accompany its existence, and deeply attached to the ecological context and the everyday social-cultural context of the society.
“Tanahku Indonesia” attempts to gather the existence of earth-based materials and their derivations, along with their application in architecture and interior design practice in different regions of Indonesia. The richness of Indonesia earth becomes the potential that contributes to the improvement of architecture and interior design quality. It also adds values to the whole process of creating architecture and interior which emphasizes on social participation. “Tanahku Indonesia” is a medium for dialog among earth, locality and the material practice in architecture and interior design.
